She's not a baker, but she has two children of 8 and 9 who need great recipes. I love the way the author provides the information to the reader while being an expert baker myself. Yes, many excellent dishes are provided, but this is a fantastic one for someone who may be afraid or unskilled. Cooking is art, but it is a science to bake. It's not the same thing as cooking, where you can toss in and have delicious food. This part must first be studied before you start with the recipes so that you grasp the fundamental science of the matter. It is also a wonderful present or first book for someone interested in learning or increasing their level of ability and talent, while it's a terrific gift for most who like to bake. I expected to find only bakes and pies in this cookbook, but I was pleasantly pleased to discover several sweets and biscuits. I enjoy the baking technique part, intended to assist beginners to grasp the basics of baking, from beating the egg whites to combining and folding. Each part has a good number of recipes, some of which people remember and like and others of which are upgraded to the recipe for something new. Each section has several recipes. It not only lists the appliances and ingredients, but it also shows how each is best used and for what purpose. As your level of expertise grows, you may easily utilize them as foundations and add components. Recipes are available all year round, and even experienced cooks like this simple book. Don't worry if you never stepped foot in a kitchen. You can learn what you need to know with simple and basic instructions in this book: from kitchen hygiene, the correct mixing method to managing eggs and more. And moreover, it consists of both UK and US measurements so even if she travels abroad, she can find the right measurements instantly. My daughter has tried a few already and had no problems. But I am totally indifferent when it comes to baked products.The complexity of the management of flour, yeast and associated goods has never taken the time to comprehend, except to make sometimes various puff pastries made from frozen sheets. There is simply incredible love and devotion in this book. My favorite part about this book is to learn how to get wide-spread numbers of pastries.Each recipe contains perfection, up-to-date current techniques that still work in the recipes, organized sequence of all ingredients and stages toward the finish. You may personalize the recipes and create a new kind of pie each time you bake for years. There are so many different breads and highest quality cakes. I observed that from this book I learnt certain life hacks that made baking quite easy. These life hacks, which might end up in the instructions, simplify things and solve any problems which may arise while baking. In addition, this book contains some of the renowned recipes often ordered by individuals or bakers who cooked them and the outcomes are good, creating culinary memories for others who have recipes. You may have had experience with other books where you were not comfortable with measuring the cops and table spoons but the author tried to include both us and uk. This book tells you all you need to know and is ideal for beginners and the more experienced. It tells you the importance of baking time, temperature and gives great tips for successful baking. It tells you what equipment is needed, terms used, and contains conversion tables. ie) fan oven/gas mark, millimeters/fluid ounces, grams/ounces. There are 81 pages of wonderful recipes to try. From the simple white loaf to pineapple upside down cake. There are starters/appetizers ,baked pies, and main meals such as cottage pie and shepherds pie. Tasty biscuits/cookies, cakes, and desserts are also there. I am retired and so is my wife, now we have this book , which I think is an excellent buy, we look forward to baking on our new oven. I bought this book to have a read about different baking and once reading though the pages on making basic bread it seemed interesting. Although I have baked over the years I have never been interested in baking bread and have never tried. I decided to give it a go and started with a basic white loaf. I followed the easy recipe word for word and the loaf came out so well that everybody said I must of bought it. I was so chuffed with the look, smell and taste of it that I then started making all the other different breads. That was 3 years ago and I'm still making bread now, usually 3 times a week, different types . I still follow basic white loaf recipe when making white bread and have experimented with different shapes and recipes, which have also been successful. I would say if you have never made bread or you know someone who might like to give it a try, get this book, it was an inspiration to me and one I still look at 3 years later.
